Board Member

Mr. Hashem Mekki is Founder & Executive Director of Kele Global, an organization dedicated to advancing education, health awareness, and economic empowerment in Sudan and South Sudan. Through this work, he empowers and trains youth to become active contributors to the development of their communities.

Mr. Mekki has also taught Arabic language, culture, and Middle East media at the Institute of World Politics (IWP) since 2012.

Mr. Mekki owns Bridge Language Solutions company that provides Arabic translation and strategic cultural insights on North Africa and the Middle East. Additionally, Mr. Mekki has more than 15 years of experience as a subcontractor where he teaches Arabic to federal employees and professionals at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) at the U.S. Department of Energy.

A cum laude graduate of the City College of New York, [Name] holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations. He also earned a Master of Arts in International Studies and Statecraft from the Institute of World Politics. His professional background includes external relations work at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and service on the board of Voices of Sudan, a Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit.

A committed advocate for human rights in Sudan and South Sudan, Mr. Mekki has spoken widely at universities, schools, and faith-based institutions. He has also provided Arabic language consulting for the University of Maryland and served as an adjunct Arabic professor at the University of California, Davis.
